Elizabeth "Bettye" Schoffler

Schoffler, (Elizabeth) E. Bettye, nee Tiedeken on July 29, 2023 of Fairmount. Daughter of the late Mary and John J. Tiedeken Sr., beloved wife of the late Walter (Walt) Schoffler. Loving sister of the late John Tiedeken and Mary McLaughlin. Devoted mother of Bob Moran (Darlene Egli), Marianne Moran-Baback (Dave), and Ken Moran (Debbie). Dear Ba (grandmother) of Jaimie Potter (Dave) and Lisa Rotchford (Billy), Danielle Castiello (Lenny) and family and Dave Baback (Briana). Ba was preceded in death by her oldest loving granddaughter Michelle Moran. Ba was blessed with great-grandchildren, Kenny, Billy, Landon and Braelyn. Also survived by sisters-in-law Sharon (Bill) Loonstyn, Denise (Ed) Alwine, Vosha Moran and Liz Tiedeken. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces & nephews. Bettye worked for three years at Curtis Publishing and retired from PNB (Corestates) after 33 years. Bettye was active in the Fairmount community, Myrtle Street block captain taking over when her father died in 1979. Both Bettye and her husband Walt founded the Myrtle Street Square Town Watch in 1985. To this day, an eyes and ears town watch. Bettye, along with her friend Lucy Ramuno became grief ministers in 1994 for St. Francis Xavier under Sister Anne Lunney with Father Paul serving a mass and blessing the grief pins. Bettye, while attending grief support at Jefferson for cancer, became a volunteer after Walt’s death helping the social worker with patients and their families. Bettye was also a volunteer at Logan Library in the stacks. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at St. Francis Xavier Church, The Oratory, 2319 Green Street, Philadelphia, Friday, August 4th from 9:00 - 10:30am, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30am. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bettye’s memory can be made to St. Francis Xavier School Fund, to the Fraternal Order of Police Survivors Fund, Lodge 5, in memory of her granddaughter Michelle Moran and/or to Lisa’s Army in memory of her niece Lisa Marie Loonstyn-Golden. Any donation to the above would be greatly appreciated by Bettye with a thank you of peace and love.
