POULSON, EVELYN R. (NEE BYRNE) Age, 95 passed on Friday, August 26, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family in West Norriton, PA. Pre-deceased by her devoted husband, Joseph; her parents Edward and Marie Byrne and her sisters, Mary Winters (Edward) and Dolores McDade (Robert) along with her husband’s family; (Charles and Anna Poulson; Mary Weber (Russ); Charles Poulson; Dolores Dwyer (Vincent); Ann Kennedy (Edward); Margaret Bush (Jack) and Katherine Larrimore (Lawrence). As the saying goes; she was the last one holding the bottle. She was truly the best mom ever to her surviving 6 children and their spouses, Evelyn (Tom Van Horn); Joseph Jr. (Mary Ellen Henning); Edward (Kathy Leonard); Dolores (Steve Koellner); Tom (Colleen Lewis); Kim Marie (Frank Mann). Loving Grandmom to 13 Grandchildren and GG to 14 Great-Grandchildren and Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mom and Dad both grew up in the Most Precious Blood parish where they were schoolmates and were then married in 1947. Evelyn only recently changed her residence from her Philadelphia home of over 69 years, where she was lovingly known as the matriarch of the neighborhood. She was the go-to person if one of the neighborhood kids got hurt or someone just needed some advice or just a friendly conversation. She was a proud graduate of John W. Hallahan, class of 1946 where she played for their Field Hockey team. She was an avid reader and made sure to watch the news every night preferably on channel 6. Our mom had many talents, she was a wonderful seamstress, making beautiful outfits when we were younger and then onto making creative Halloween costumes. Also, a pretty good artist, loved to draw little birds as part of our names. She was so strong and giving of herself to everyone that met her. Our home was always open to everyone. To us she was pure love. Love was her life, her legacy, her gift. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on September 1st - Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Dinan Funeral Home, located 1923 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA and on Friday, September 2nd visitation will be held in the church starting at 9:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church, The Oratory, 24th & Green Street, Philadelphia, PA with her Funeral mass at 10:00 A.M.
