Veronica Ann Olechna

It is with heavy hearts and profound love the family of Veronica Ann Olechna announces her passing on July 2, 2026 at the age of 84. Veronica died peacefully at home on Brown Street surrounded by her loving family. Born October 6, 1941 and raised in Fairmount. She attended Saint Hedwig Polish elementary school. Then J.W. Hallahan Catholic Girls high school where she graduated with a scholarship to Saint Agnes nursing school. Following graduation she accepted an impressive position at Massachusetts General hospital in Boston. After several years, Veronica returned to Philadelphia. Was married and became a loving mother of two beautiful boys. Raising her children in the house she was raised in. Veronica continued with her nursing career. Treating patients passionately and teaching care techniques for over six decades gaining lifelong friendships along the way. Saint Agnes Medical Center, Hahnemann Hospital and Unity Clinic in South Philly just to name a few. Though her greatest and proudest title in life was Grandma, Gaga, Gmom to five amazing grandchildren and to the bonus grandchildren of extended family friends and neighbors, whom she loved like her own! All who brought her joy and laughter while she fiercely battled cancer for many years. Veronica was proceeded in death by her late parents, Walter Kalinski, and Laura (Lojewski) Kalinski, her late sister Felicia (Kalinski) Soulsby, her late former husband Francis J Olechna II and her late best friends Joan Eddy and Maryann Karwejna. Veronica is survived by Oldest son Francis J Olechna III, daughter-in-law Christina (Reeser) Olechna, and granddaughter Sydney. Youngest son Gary W Olechna, daughter-in-law Diane (Tortosa) Olechna and grandchildren Patrick, Lauren,Justin, Brittany and grandson in law David Her beloved oldest cousin Dolores Lojewski and dearest friend of 5 decades Regina Linehan Her presence will deeply be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M. July 13th, 2026, at the Saint Francis Xavier Church(The Oratory) 2319 Green Street Philadelphia Pa 19130. A viewing will be held at the Dinan Funeral Home 1923 Spring Garden Street Philadelphia Pa19130 Sunday Evening from 6-8 P.M. and Monday morning from 8-9:30 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery (Yeadon)
