Joyce M. McKeon

Joyce M. McKeon (Ogborn), 81, died April 14, 2020 at the Watermark in Philadelphia from complications related to Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Philadelphia, she was daughter of the late William and Marie Schoch Ogborn, and was a resident of The Watermark since 2015, having also lived in Delaware County, PA and Simsbury and Bloomfield, CT. Joyce graduated from the John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in 1956 and received a Bachelor's Degree in English from Villanova University. Earlier in her life she taught English at Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School in Philadelphia and Nether Providence High School in Wallingford, PA, among others. After raising her children, Joyce returned to the workplace as a Legal Secretary, a profession she loved and excelled at, and stayed with through her retirement. Joyce was an accomplished seamstress and talented amateur interior decorator. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and in her retirement traveling all over the world including Russia, China and South America. She was very close to her Hallahan Sorority Sisters and remained friends with the group until her death. She will be remembered by everyone she knew as a fun-loving and generous person who was dedicated to her family. Joyce was the beloved wife of 49 years to George P. McKeon, mother to Marikay McKeon-Murphy (Alan), Terianne McKeon (Dana), sister of the late Teri Modesti (Harry), and late William Ogborn (Ruthanne), sister-in-law to Mary Beth Dacey(Paul), Kathleen Graham and Bernadette Hohenadel, and aunt to Meghan Federico (Chris), and Michael Hohenadel (Kathleen), Elizabeth Scott (Brian) and Margaret Hohenadel. She was "sister" and "aunt" in spirit to numerous others. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date and time. Flowers may be sent in her name to staff at The Watermark, 2 Franklin Town Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19103 to bring cheer to staff and residents at this difficult time.
