Marcolina Santiago

Marcolina Santiago-Galarza, 90, passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning of October 11, 2021. Marcolina was one of twelve children, who was born on February 15, 1931, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to Casiano Santiago-Serrano ad Salvadora Galarza-Cueves. Marcolina is survived by her daughter, Leticia Laboy, her grandchildren, John and Anthony Ortiz (spouses Samantha and Chelsie), her great-grandchildren; Sophia, Anthony, Adelina, and new grandson on the way; her siblings, Trinidad, Jose, Ramona and Miguel, and many nieces and nephews. Marcolina was a dedicated woman of faith, who attended daily Mass. She was renowned for her traditional cooking, especially Christmas Eve dinners. Marcolina was the matriarch of the family. Marcolina is predeceased by her husband Higinio and beloved son Higinio, Jr. The following services will be held in honor of Marcolina: A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m. in the Dinan Funeral Home, 1921-23 Spring Garden Street, Phila., PA 19130. On Monday, October 18, 2021, there will be a viewing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.,in the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter & Paul, located at 1723 Race Street, Phila., PA 19103 The burial will follow after Mass at Hillside Cemetery, located at 2556 Susquehanna Rd., Abington, PA 19001.
