Ronald Pelczar

October 19, 1947 - March 17, 2020

Ronald Pelczar was born in 1947 to Tony and Jean (Popow) Pelczar. He is survived by a sister, Gloria (Rocco Stezzi); his brother Richie is deceased. He also has nieces and nephews as well as cousins from both the Pelczar and Popow families. Ronnie grew up on Aspen Street in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. He attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and Roman Catholic High School where he graduated in 1965. His best friends, the Kuzans, grew up few doors from him on Aspen Street. He played some sports but was best noted for being a self-taught piano man. He would frequently entertain at parties and other venues. He had a remarkable collection of vinyl records. One of his happiest times as a youngster was joining Big Brothers Boys Club and attending their summer camp in the Poconos. Some other summers were spent at his Aunt Vickie's farm around Harrisburg as well as down the shore in Wildwood at the Kuzan's house. Ron served two tours in Vietnam; he saw much action as a specialist in the Motor Pool. After his honorable discharge, he continued enhancing his automotive skills and worked beside his dad at Dick Newman Engine Repairs. He was mentor mechanic to Paul Kuzan who he would take at nights to the engine repair shop to work on rebuilding motors at which he was a perfectionist. Ron was a sincere guy who was devoted to his friends. He was an active Roman alumnus. He also was a lifetime member of Parkway VFW Memorial Post 7650 and a member of American Legion Posts. In recent years he spent a lot of time at the Legion Post 84 in Oaklyn, New Jersey. Burial is private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arr. Dinan Funeral Home, Phila.
