Catherine L. "Cathy" Centofante

Catherine L. “Cathy” Centofante died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph and her mother Catherine “Kitty”, nee Conway. She is survived by her sister Joann Winterle and brother Joseph Centofante II (Marybeth), and her nieces and nephews Jenna (Mark), Hilary, Joseph III, Rachael, Molly (Jeffrey), and Elijah. She is also survived by a wide extended family, and many friends, all of whom she loved like family. Cathy was an avid traveler, and especially enjoyed visiting her beloved Ireland. In recent years she also traveled to Italy, Hawaii, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Canada, in addition to taking numerous road trips across the U.S. to see historic homes and landmarks. As an amateur photographer, Cathy used her talents to capture and preserve wonderful memories for many grateful families, including her own. She had a flair for cooking and baking. She spent many happy hours crafting, scrapbooking, and creating beautiful “Junk Journals.” Harnessing her affinity for genealogy, she researched her family history and taught her family about their ancestors. Cathy also loved cheering on Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and the Eagles, enjoyed watching (and quoting) her favorite movies, played along with vintage game shows, and hosted her own versions during holiday gatherings. Also known as Kate to many of her friends and colleagues, she worked in the office furniture industry for over four decades. She supported her coworkers and served her clients with the same care and attention that she gave to everything she touched. Of course, what Cathy will be most remembered for is her unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends. In her retirement, she lovingly cared for her mother, Kitty. She was always a phone call away anytime anyone needed her (prompting her to describe herself as the as the “Original UBER”). The world will be a little dimmer without her contagious smile and infectious laughter. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cathy’s life on Wednesday, August 7 at Saint Francis Xavier Church (24th and Green Streets, Philadelphia). The gathering will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Following mass, everyone is invited to Fergie’s Pub (1214 Sansom, Philadelphia). In her honor, everyone is encouraged to wear a wee bit of green, Cathy’s favorite color. The inurnment will be private.
